Introducing
Showdown
Showdown is played between two people. It is played on a rectangular table in the middle of the center plate. Played with two racket (bat), and one ball sounded. When struck, the ball produces a sound indicating its location on the table (This is done by placing a few ball-bearings inside the ball to produce the sound). The goal is to hit the ball across the table, under the central board and the opponent’s goal while the opponent tries to prevent it. Points are scored by hitting the ball into a goal pocket on the opponent’s side of the table.
If you are interested in an enjoyable sport that will strengthen your senses, showdown is the best choice for you. History of
Showdown
Showdown was invented in Canada and played rather extensively in other parts of the world. Joe Lewis and Patrick York, two Canadian athletes, had an idea in 1977 to create a game or sport, which could be played recreationally and competitively without sighted assistance. After years of collaboratively working together on all aspects of the game, rules and equipment, the first table and the game of Showdown was played in Canada in 1980.
This sport is very similar to table tennis and air hockey. Showdown is a sport for the blind and visually impaired which could be described as the blind community’s answer to air hockey, or table tennis. … It is also played by sighted players, but they are not allowed to participate in the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) tournaments. In table tennis the ball is hit over the net, but in Showdown the ball is hit under the net.
